Gamut Partners with Nicoloff & Associates on Pauma Indian Reservation Fire Station
The Pauma Reservation Fire Department in San Diego County is now an “all-risk” department after the tribe changed its focus from a “wild land hand crew” to the “all-risk” system to provide better fire suppression and emergency medical services to the surrounding area. This shift has been something the tribe has been moving toward for many years, in the hope that more tribal members and other Native Americans will be encouraged to enter the field of fire service.
The project presented many challenges to both the architects, Nicoloff & Associates and Gamut Construction who worked as a team to bring the station online late last year. There are several unique features including a pre-engineered metal structure to house the 2-bay station with living quarters for five firemen. The design also allows for further expansion of the 7,600 sq. ft. single-story structure during the three-phase process.
At a cost of over $2.8 million the new facility gives greater peace of mind to the 2,000+ reservation residents who live on the north side of Mt. Palomar near Temecula, and are particularly vulnerable during fire season.
Nicoloff & Associates has been responsible for the design of over 30 fire facilities and often partners with Gamut Construction headquartered in Montclair, CA. Gamut recently complet
tunning fire station at Colonies Crossroads in Upland, CA and was recently awarded the contract to build three stations in Chino, CA.
